🐾🧡Von Renner Celebrated Unity Day today. 🐾🧡 🐾🧡Our students wore orange for Unity Day to show that no one should experience bullying. Miss Brittney, our counselor had fun activities for the students to show kindness to one another today. They were saying BOO to Bullying by coloring a boo gram, writing a kind message, and giving a boo gram to someone to spread kindness. 🐾🧡

Library Fun The kids love to go into our library. Miss Halie has lots of activities for the kids to do: reading, computers, and drawing activities. 🐾

🎉🐾🌟Recently our Von Renner Elementary School Cougars had a Surprise Attendance Day. This was a random day selected where students and staff alike who were healthy enough to come to school or work received 5 tickets to enter for a prize in a raffle. The winners were announced at last week’s Monday assembly. The last picture has the winners in it.

Mrs. Sen class was having a fun time learning about pumpkins. They counted pumpkin seeds out of a little pumpkin. It surprised Mrs. Sen by having 376 seeds packed into that tiny pumpkin. They also got to try some pumpkin seeds from the store. Then they voted on whether or not they liked pumpkin seeds. Looks like the majority of the kids liked them.

Unity Day is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month. This is a day when we can come together to send a visible message of building community through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. The call to action is simple: wear and share the color orange.

We want to ensure that all students and families have access to resources and support when needed! Below are two helpful community resources available to families:
BrightLife Kids: A free resource for California families offering virtual coaching and mental health support for children ages 0–12. Families can access support for managing big emotions, building coping skills, navigating behaviors, and strengthening overall well-being.
Community Hospice: Provides compassionate support and services for individuals and families experiencing grief and loss. Their programs include grief support, counseling, and resources to help children and families navigate difficult times.

To celebrate September Attendance Awareness Month, students enjoyed a surprise assembly featuring magician Wayne Houchin, former host of Discovery Channel’s Breaking Magic! Thank you, families, for helping your children make every school day count!

Today Mrs. Granados’s students introduced their year-long classroom project. They will gather data to investigate how much garbage there is at Von Renner. They will then use their data to create graphs and tables. Next they will share their data with the students at our assemblies. They are doing this to help bring awareness and promote taking care of our campus.

🙄🐾 😁 Happy Tuesday Von Renner Elementary School Cougars! Last Friday Ms. Brittany Salazar, our new school counselor planned an activity during lunch time for our students. The activity was an extension of this months SEL focus- identifying feelings. She was able to do a classroom presentations at most classes discussing this topic prior to the activity. The spinning wheel had different emotions written on it, the students were able to spin the wheel and answer questions based on their grade level. Example questions were to show what facial expression matched that emotion or to tell her a time they felt that emotion. The children enjoyed spinning the wheel and showcasing their most creative emotional faces based on where the wheel landed and talking about them. Can’t wait to see what activity she’s got planned for next month! 😁🥺😤🥰
