8 Million Word Challenge: Completed 12/6/2018; 16 Million Word Challenge: Completed 1/18/19; 25 Million Word Challenge: COMPLETED 2/19/19

The 25 Million Word Challenge has officially been completed!

February 19, 2019 marks the completion of the third consecutive Footsteps2Brilliance word challenge. The students at Barrington, Bonita, Hunt and Von Renner have totaled 25,105,862 words in just 14 weeks, averaging 1,785,714 words read daily.

The Footsteps2Brilliance word challenges began on November 7, 2018 at the School Ready Initiative Press Conference, where Superintendent Fillpot challenged the TK-3 students to read 8 Million Words by March 1, 2019 using the Footsteps2Brilliance and Clever Kids University Apps. The original challenge was completed in less than a month as students totaled more than 8 million words on December 6, 2018. The challenge was then doubled to 16 million words and was completed on January 18, 2019. The early completion of two challenges lead to the latest challenge, to read 25 million words before March 1, 2019. That challenge was competed on February 19, 2019!

To celebrate the completion of each challenge students were given special treats; the 8 million word challenge earned cookies and the 16 million word challenge earned ice cream sundaes. To celebrate the completion of three challenges each site will have a BBQ in March!

Congratulations to all those who participated in the Footsteps2Brilliance word challenges!
